ROUNDUP()
Rounds a number away from zero, regardless of the digit that follows.
ROUNDUP(number, num_digits)ROUNDUP always rounds up in magnitude — 12.341 rounds up to 12.35 at 2 digits, the same as 12.349 would. This differs from ROUND, which would round 12.341 down to 12.34.
Common for scenarios where under-counting is a problem, like calculating how many boxes are needed to ship a quantity of items.
Arguments
- number
- The number to round.
- num_digits
- How many digits to round to. Negative rounds to the left of the decimal point.
Examples
=ROUNDUP(12.341, 2)→12.35
Rounds up even though the next digit is small.
=ROUNDUP(22/5, 0)→5
22/5 is 4.4 items — ROUNDUP ensures you order enough for all of them.
